One of the things Amnesty really needs is more ground-up organization, and this means integrating student groups and local groups directly into the Amnesty website.
Each local group/student group should have its own page on the website that should be easily designable, easy to update, and pleasing to the eye. The URLs and usernames should be as easy as possible, so when the leadership of the group changes, the chapter won't suffer.
Many groups have a facebook page, but this is not easily accessible or useful for AI as a whole. Integrating Student/Local Groups into the AIUSA website would allow for quick access for activists, easy administration for group leaders, and a means of communication between groups. Although registration is already being administered online, this could also be simplified and linked directly to the group's website.
I hate to say this but to many people do not know what Amnesty means. I am sorry but that is the truth. Have you watched Jay walking on the jay leno show? Most people don't know who the vice president is and you want them to know what Amnesty means?

Those of us who are already involved know all about Amnesty and what that word truly means. But I think if there was a powerful, precise message as to what Amnesty actually stands for…Humanity and helping one another, it may make our message stronger and more personally meaningful.
