Following the outbreak of the recent conflict in Gaza and southern Israel on December 27, 2008 and then Israel’s ground invasion of Gaza on January 3, Amnesty International delegates traveled to the region on January 8. There, they began to research allegations of war crimes and others serious violations of international law by Israel, Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups.
