After months of relative silence, President Obama will formally address the tumultuous events of the Arab Spring in a speech on Thursday May 19 at 11:30 am[ET]. His speech will stream live on CNN and C-Span, both in the US and internationally. Following the announcement of Syrian sanctions Wednesday, Obama is slated to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday.
At his speech tomorrow, Obama will articulate the US position on recent democratic movements throughout the Middle East, focusing on Libya and Egypt sources say, but will likely avoid details. He is also likely to mention the tumult in Syria, following US sanctions placed upon Syrian President Bashar Assad on May 18th.
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney would not give details on whether the president will address the Israeli and Palestinian conflict. Sources like the Guardian speculate that this speech will be similar in tone to Obama’s Cairo speech in 2009. At that point early in his presidency, Obama strove to make amends for past aggressive US foreign policies in the Middle East. This time around, he’s expected to explain his administration’s restrained involvement in the MENA region’s affairs.

Obama cannot properly address the issues in the Middle East without challenging allies – namely Saudi Arabia and Israel. Any pressure on others around issues such as democracy and human rights is a little hollow without mentioning the abuses committed by those two nations and their hand in other nations such as Saudi Arabia's military support against popular uprisings in Bahrain.
Well i think Mr Obama will probably support people carefully as he can't make some dictators in Middle east angry, simply because in politic patrol may be more important than some human issues like freedom!!.
It my be more accurate if we call it Mid-east spring as many other ethnic groups are living in the region not only Arab.

I challenge President Obama to address the horrific situation in Bahrain in his speech. Saudi Arabia is allowed to abuse their own citizens and now allowed to use deadly force against innocent Bahrainis who are only seeking representation and self-determination. At first, only asking for a constitutional monarchy and they got murdered in the streets by their "king." Now it's terroristic arrests in middle of the night, sexual assaults against women AND men, torture and complete lack of due process in any of the criminal cases being brought against doctors, nurses, lawyers, writers, children and anyone who even walked in the peaceful protests in Bahrain.
Horror is the only word to describe what's going on in Bahrain. HORROR.

I think President Obama is very sensitive to what happens in the Arab world, the U.S. will establish a sort of Marshall Plan to help new democracies, like Egypt and Tunisia, and encourage remaining countries to follow suit.
the plan, Obama and his administration want to demonstrate to Muslims that the U.S. is not their enemy as they think, but their moral and material support against their real enemies, dictators and criminals to authorities.
I think the current administration the United States is on track, with the support of the Arab peoples, it has much to gain, she realized that these people hate this is the result of dictatorship in place.

After years of wrong acts in the middle east I think we cannot expect much from Obama and his administration, not that they dont want to make things better, but they just cant revert this picture that fast and easy.
Things are only going to settle down with continuos work, so the best he can do, in my opnion, is point to the right way so the world can collect the good deeds some years from now.
