Delara Darabi faces imminent execution. Like many sentenced to death in Iran, she was convicted of a crime committed when she was a child. Almost no other country in the world executes juvenile offenders, yet Iran has put 16 of them to death since the beginning of 2007. Iran’s death row continues to house scores of young men and women facing the noose for crimes that took place when they were under 18 years old. These include Abumoslem Sohrabi and Abbas Hosseini, whose executions may also be imminent.
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child forbids the death penalty for crimes committed by underage offenders, and the CRC is the most universally accepted human rights treaty there is. (Only Somalia, and the good ole USA have failed to ratify this no-brainer of a human rights instrument; thankfully the US Supreme Court found executing child offenders unconstitutional – by a 5-4 vote – back in 2005). Iran has accepted this treaty, so why is this still happening?
That is the question a strong human rights movement inside Iran is asking, as they seek to end the execution of juvenile offenders. We can support this courageous effort by taking action on behalf of people like Delara Darabi, Abumoslem Sohrabi and Abbas Hosseini.
To the relevant department. Urgent action needed on Human right atrocities committed by the Iraq goverment. I was in favour of the allied action in iraq to remove an evil dictator but it appears we have replace one Evil with an even worse Evil. The iraq government intend to murder 128 innocent people simply beacuse they are gay! They Executed 132 gay people last year including a young boy, they have the highest execution rate of children anywhere in the world and are about to murder 128 more innocent people who have committed no crimes whatsoever. This is a human rights abuse/genocide beyond beleif in our civilized world. Why isnt this headline news around the world? it cost us (the allies) so many lives to put this evil in charge and no one is speaking out against it. Can you please please do whatever you can to bring this to light and try to put a stop to it immediatley or email me the relevant contact information for anyone who can help. We cannot sit back and allow these murders to take place knowing that we allowed it to be possible. On a personal note i think the allied action in iraq was correct but they should have taken taken full controll because under Allied rule none of these murders or any other known atrocities would have ever happened. To all those who insist on jumping down President Obama's throat, insisting that he do exactly what you want him to do when you want him to: CHILL! Be patient and consider all that's going on RIGHT NOW. You saw the teabaggers. These people weren't staging an innocent anti-tax protest. Janeane Garrofolo on with Keith Olberman last night, had it right Teabaggers are racists who cannot accept the fact that African Americans are occupying the White House. Some of them like Gov. Perry of Texas are already crying for secession. This is not about taxes. Not a one of them really believes Obama is a tyrant. They do not consider him their president because he is not white. Let me say that again. BECAUSE HE IS NOT WHITE. Have faith in Obama. He can't do all of our bidding right away. I'm sure he will get to it little by little. Democracy is slow. It takes time. It's like what Michael Corleone said to his father: "We'll get there, Pop."

I have tried to lodge my protest but this website doesn't seem to give me a page to do so.
I used to be an AI member over three years ago but due to a protracted hospitalization and subsequent convalescence I disconnected.
You used to have pages where one could easily register one's petitions.
Has this changed?

I was so relieved to learn that the execution of Delara Darabi has been postponed, which only goes to show that international pressure works.
Apparently, we have two more months to convince Iranian authorities, and I've launched a blog campaign/relay to that effect, in the hope that as many as possible will join up.
