I am not so sure I agree that more democracy is in fact the best defense to terrorism.
The Norwegian Police were alerted to the murderer months ago when he imported highly suspicious amounts of explosive chemicals from Poland but the Norwegian Police decided to simply ignore this warning and refused to investigate this tip because "it would have violated his rights".
If this exact same scenario had occurred in the USA, because of the Patriot Act, this lunatic would have been treated as a possible terrorist and would have been likely caught before committing the murders.

You should ask yourself why the killer was placed on a terrorism black list of the British Security Service MI5 months ago, according to the Polish Police, but this was laughed at by the Norwegian Police. In either Britain or the US, with more surveillance of the public at the cost of slightly less so-called freedom than Norway, the killer would have been caught long ago.

"Head of Poland's Counterterrorism Center, Zbigniew Muszynski, said the suspect bought two different substances, one in the amount of a few hundred grams, and more than 100 kilograms of the other substance.
The suspect went in March this year on the terrorism black list of the British Security Service MI5, when he purchased the chemicals known to be useful in building explosive devices at the registered on-line supplier from Poland. The Brits forwarded the information to the Norwegian security service but they didn’t react. "

Because what is true is that the Norwegian Police did in fact ignore this tip they really did get about the murderer months before the attack solely because of his skin, hair and eye color and name.
