I'm going to have to call bullshit, "Sittingnut." Children die in war because casualties occur; the US government is not targeting or encouraging the death of children. It's not a war crime. If you want examples of real war crimes, you're free to look them up.

I've assumed by western societies you mean the United States, seeing as we're just about the only military force active in the regions you were mentioning. amnesty has applied double standards on what constitutes war crimes when usa's bestial military kill innocents ( far from their country's territory ) it is 'collateral damage'(!). when other non western countries do the same, fighting terrorists in their own countries, it is war crimes. as i said this is hypocrisy

indiscriminate massacres at check points in iraq,

carpet bombing of whole villages in afghanistan and pakistan.

This is made all the more difficult by the sort of enemy the United States is currently facing; one practicing gorilla warfare, using civilians as shields. While I agree atrocities have occurred, please take a moment to try and empathize, and if you still feel there is imbalance, then try to imagine how little Amnesty International would be able to accomplish if they alienated patrons from the wealthy western societies. Perhaps it's the lesser of two evils?
