Simon Maghakyan
Simon Maghakyan is a Eurasia country specialist with Amnesty International USA. He is a Political Science graduate student at University of Colorado where he studies international relations, ethnic conflict, foreign policy, and indigenous peoples’ political structures. He is an alumnus of the International Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies and a recipient of USA Today’s 2006 All-USA Academic First Team for Community Colleges award.A native of Armenia, Simon is a Global Voices Online (a non-profit international project that started at Harvard Law School) author where he summarizes and translates blogposts about the South Caucasus (mainly, Armenia and Azerbaijan) and indigenous peoples’ issues around the world. One of his Global Voices Online posts on Armenian-Turkish issues is featured on the New York Times Topics Blog. Simon also writes at www.blogian.net, a personal blog he started in 2005.
